Terms of Service

1. About Pacer

Pacer is a running partner matching service. We help you find runners with compatible pace and availability near you. Pacer is currently in development and accepting waitlist signups ahead of launch in Hertfordshire.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Pacer. By signing up, you confirm that you are 18 or over and that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use Pacer only for its intended purpose — finding running partners and coordinating runs. You must not:

• Impersonate another person or provide false information about yourself
• Use Pacer to harass, threaten, or harm other users
• Attempt to extract personal information from other users beyond what they have chosen to share
• Use Pacer for commercial solicitation or advertising
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise compromise the service

4. Safety

Pacer provides tools to help make running with new people safer — including double opt-in matching, pace verification, and the safe return check-in feature. These tools reduce risk but cannot eliminate it. You are responsible for your own safety when meeting other users. We recommend:

• Meeting at public locations for first runs
• Telling someone where you're going and who you're meeting
• Using the safe return feature whenever running with someone new

Pacer is not liable for any harm resulting from meetings between users.

5. Content and conduct

You are responsible for any content you share on Pacer, including your profile bio and messages. Content that is abusive, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or threatening will result in immediate account suspension. Reported users are reviewed by our moderation team. Pacer reserves the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms.

6. Intellectual property

The Pacer name, logo, and product are owned by Pacer. You may not reproduce or use them without our written permission. Your profile content remains yours — by creating it you grant us a licence to display it to matched users for the purpose of running partner matching.

7. Service availability

Pacer is provided as-is during its early access period. We may update, pause, or discontinue features at any time. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes wherever possible.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Pacer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you in connection with Pacer shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the preceding 12 months (which for waitlist users is £0).

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. We will notify waitlist subscribers of material changes by email. Continued use of Pacer after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
